Lagerback in Larsson talks

Sweden coach Lars Lagerback is understood to be trying to tempt Henrik Larsson out of international retirement.

Larsson, 35, marked an impressive debut for Manchester United by scoring in the FA Cup victory against Aston Villa last Sunday.

The former Barcelona and Celtic striker is on loan from Helsingborg until March although there is the possibility he could stay until the end of the season.

Lagerback is aware of Larsson’s good form and Swedish FA chairman Lars-Ake Lagrell told Aftonbladet: “There have been talks with Henke. I cannot say exactly what these discussions involved.

“Obviously it would be fantastic news if Henke decided to play for the national team again. But I’m not so sure. I think Henke has made his mind up for definite this time.”
