Tottenham manager Martin Jol has moved to freshen up his squad by bringing in young Sunderland goalkeeper Ben Alnwick and promising teenage midfielder Adel Taarabt from Lens.

Tottenham manager Martin Jol has moved to freshen up his squad by bringing in young Sunderland goalkeeper Ben Alnwick and promising teenage midfielder Adel Taarabt from Lens.

Alnwick signed for £900,000 (€1.3m) – although the fee could rise to £1.3m (€1.9m) depending on appearances – with Spurs keeper Marton Fulop making his loan spell at the Stadium of Light permanent in a separate £500,000 (€743,000) deal.
