Boss Neil Warnock is also without Ian Bennett (broken finger), forcing him to turn to third-choice Gerrard, who will play his first game for eight months after signing for the Blades earlier this season.

Despite a few players struggling with a virus last week, Warnock will take a decent squad to the Riverside, although with Stephen Quinn, Derek Geary and Mikele Leigertwood likely absentees.

Team (from): Gerrard, Davis, Morgan, Jagielka, Gillespie, Kozluk, Tonge, Armstrong, Bromby, A Quinn, Montgomery, Webber, Hulse, Law, Kazim-Richards, Nade, Sommeil.
