FA reject Bury appeal

Bury’s appeal against their expulsion from the FA Cup has been rejected by the Football Association.

The Shakers were thrown out of the tournament after fielding on-loan Hartlepool’s Stephen Turnbull in the 3-1 second round replay win over Chester despite the midfielder being ineligible.

Following a hearing on Thursday, their appeal against the decision was rejected.

Their League Two rivals Chester will now face Championship side Ipswich in the third round.
