Gerrard's baby 'in good health' after hospital scare

The daughter of Premiership star Steven Gerrard was said to be in "good health" today after being admitted to hospital over Christmas.

Eight-month-old Lexie was taken to Liverpool's Alder Hey Children's Hospital on Christmas Eve and kept in for observation overnight.

She was discharged the following day and went back to the family home in Formby, Merseyside.

Lexie, who is the second child of the footballer and his partner, Alex Curran, was admitted to the same hospital in October and discharged after treatment.

A spokesman for Liverpool and England midfielder Gerrard described the latest hospital admission as "purely precautionary".

He said: "It was a purely precautionary measure, and Lexie is in good health."

The spokesman declined to comment further about Lexie's condition, but sources close to the player said it was linked to a problem with swallowing.
