Mendes misses out for Pompey

Pedro Mendes is banned for the visit of Everton after his dismissal against Aston Villa last week.

Matt Taylor is a doubt with a recurrence of back trouble after his two-goal performance against Villa and with David Thompson also missing with a thigh injury, Niko Kranjcar stands by.

Sean Davis (groin) is fit again and returns to partner unsettled Manuel Fernandes in midfield.

Lomana LuaLua (thigh) and Andy Cole (Achilles) are both out long term, so manager Harry Redknapp will continue to rely on the pairing of Benjani Mwaruwari and Kanu to get the side through Christmas.
