Charlton celebrated 14 years back at The Valley with centre-back Talal El Karkouri’s dramatic free-kick winner in stoppage time.

The last-gasp win over Blackburn lifted the Addicks off the bottom of the Barclays Premiership despite Watford’s point at Manchester City last night.

And although Morocco star El Karkouri grabbed a stunning clincher, Charlton also found a new hero in support striker Lloyd Sam, who despite his 30th-minute miss from eight yards had an impressive full league debut and should have won a spot-kick when brought down by Blackburn’s Lucas Neill in the 26th minute.
