Newcastle will be without injured midfielder Kieron Dyer for tomorrow night’s Barclays Premiership match against Reading and fear he could miss several games.

The 27-year-old suffered a nasty thigh injury when he collided with advertising hoardings during the 1-0 league win over Portsmouth on November 26.

Manager Glenn Roeder will make a late decision on Stephen Carr (foot) who is rated a 50-50 chance, but Celestine Babayaro (groin) is fit and Giuseppe Rossi is available again.

However, Titus Bramble (calf) is another to have joined Scott Parker (back muscle), Michael Owen, Damien Duff and Tim Krul (all knee), Shola Ameobi and Olivier Bernard (both hip), Craig Moore (hamstring) and Steve Harper (groin) on the injured list.

Provisional squad: Given, Srnicek, Carr, Solano, Taylor, Ramage, Huntington, Babayaro, Butt, Emre, N’Zogbia, Milner, Pattison, Troisi, Gate, Edgar, Martins, Sibierski, Luque, Rossi, Carroll.
