The Football Association has confirmed it is looking into reports of Chester chairman Stephen Vaughan’s involvement in a tunnel bust-up following the game against Shrewsbury.

The FA have been examining the referee’s report as well as video footage of the brawl at the final whistle of last weekend’s game, which the Shrews won 2-1.

Reports have subsequently surfaced claiming that the unrest continued into the tunnel at Gay Meadow where it is alleged Vaughan clashed with Shrews striker Leo Fortune-West.

An FA spokesman said: “We are looking into reports of an incident in the tunnel, which may have involved the Chester chairman.”

Meanwhile, Vaughan refused to comment on the allegations.
