Petrov set to return for Villa
Aston Villa midfielder Stiliyan Petrov should be fit to return to action in Saturday’s home Premiership clash with Middlesbrough.
The Bulgarian international was ruled out of the goalless draw with Wigan at the JJB Stadium on Sunday with a hamstring injury.
But a scan has revealed no serious damage and the 27-year-old is set to be available to face former Villa defender Gareth Southgate’s side.
Villa boss Martin O’Neill said: “Stiliyan wasn’t right for the Wigan game but he has had a scan which showed he was clear of any real damage and he is feeling much better.”
