Hammer Sheringham dropped for Gunners visit

Teddy Sheringham was dropped to the bench for West Ham’s Barclays Premiership clash against Arsenal at Upton Park.

The 40-year-old had breathed life into the Hammers’ campaign last week with the opener in the victory over Blackburn but manager Alan Pardew decided to go with a five-man midfield.

Bobby Zamora was the only striker in the starting line-up, with Sheringham and Argentina international Carlos Tevez named as substitutes.

Arsenal, who drew a blank against CSKA Moscow in the Champions League last week, had Thierry Henry and Robin van Persie in attack.
