Gold against Brady exit

Birmingham chairman David Gold wants Karren Brady to remain at the club amid speculation linking her with the position of managing director at Capital Radio in London.

Gold is trying to contact Brady, managing director at St Andrews for the past 14 years, to establish whether Sunday newspaper reports suggesting she would leave Blues are valid.

Brady has played a major role along with co-owner David Sullivan and the Gold brothers – David and Ralph – in rescuing City from a perilous financial situation when they took charge in 1993.

Gold said: “I am sure I am speaking for the entire board when I say we want Karren to remain at Birmingham City. We would do everything we could to get her to stay.

“Asking whether I want her to leave is like asking if I want the stadium pulled down. Of course not. Karren has been part and parcel of Birmingham City for the past 14 years and is part of the fabric of the club. Karren is Birmingham City through and through.

“She has been instrumental in the resurgence of the club and a power in the game as a whole. I really hope this is a rumour and not true. I do not know if it is true. I have placed a call with Karren to see if it is true or not.”
