Gibson gives full backing to Southgate

Middlesbrough chairman Steve Gibson has given his full support to rookie manager Gareth Southgate, scotching reports that a dispute over his qualifications could be used to lever him out of the post.

Boro have until November 11 to persuade the Premier League to allow Southgate to become Steve McClaren’s permanent successor.
