Hughes happy over UEFA trips

Blackburn manager Mark Hughes is relieved that Rovers have avoided any long away trips in the UEFA Cup group phase.

Rovers will play Wisla Krakow and Feyenoord away and meet Basle and Nancy at home.

Hughes told the club website, www.rovers.co.uk: “I’m reasonably happy with how it has panned out but the strength of the overall competition this year ensures that whatever you got would be difficult.

“We’ve managed to avoid long-distance trips to far away places which is always a consideration when league games come up so quickly after.

“I have said from the outset that the UEFA Cup is a major priority for us this season.

“We worked very hard to get the chance to compete in the tournament and we want to make the journey last as long as possible.”
