Shels come from behind to beat ten-man Derry

Shelbourne came from 2-0 down to stay seven points clear at the top of the Premier Division table as Derry finished with ten men.

Derry stunned Shels to score twice inside as many minutes midway through the first half.

The opener came on 24 minutes when Pat McCourt got on the end of skipper Eddie McCallion’s cross to score with a rare header.

Kevin Deery doubled that lead almost immediately when he caught Shels' keeper Steve Williams off his line and brilliantly chipped him from over 40 yards.

The drama continued a minute before half-time when Derry keeper Patrick Jennings was sent off for bringing down Jason Byrne outside the area with Deery having to go in goal.

Shels' skipper Owen Heary hit a 61st minute screamer to get his side back into the match.

Heary was again involved in the equaliser on 78 minutes when setting up Ollie Cahill to cross for Glen Crowe to head home.
