Wenger planning to use final frustration

Arsene Wenger has every intention of ensuring his Arsenal squad use the “frustration” of last season’s Champions League final disappointment to be a big hit in Europe again.

The Gunners kicked off their 2006/2007 campaign with a comfortable 2-1 win in Hamburg last night, to put themselves in control of Group G.

It was a controlled performance from the Barclays Premiership club, who made the most of their numerical advantage after Hamburg goalkeeper Sascha Kirschtein had been sent off just nine minutes into the match when he was adjudged to have tripped Robin van Persie.

Wenger is determined, meanwhile, to show last season’s fantastic run to the European cup final in Paris was no accident.

“You want to justify what you achieved last year and it is an incitement to come back and win the trophy,” said the Arsenal boss.
