Tottenham’s new signing Steed Malbranque has undergone a hernia operation which will sideline him for two months.

Tottenham’s new signing Steed Malbranque has undergone a hernia operation which will sideline him for two months.

Coach Martin Jol confirmed the player opted to have the operation following his £2m (€2.94m) move from Fulham last week.

Jol said: “It was his decision and he will be out for seven or eight weeks.”

Spurs will be without striker Dimitar Berbatov for the trip to Manchester United on Saturday. He collected a groin injury on international duty with Bulgaria has not recovered in time.
