Longford Town 0 Sligo Rovers 2

Two wonderfully-executed goals from Harpal Singh moved Sligo up to fourth place in the Premier Divison table.

Longford started well with Dave Mooney hitting a post and then missing a sitter before Sligo took the lead with their first effort on target on 19 minutes when ex-Leeds trainee Singh curled a delightful free kick to the net from just over 20 yards.

If that was good, Singh’s second goal on 59 minutes was even better as he hit a stunning dipping volley from 20 yards to the roof of the net.

The former Leeds prospect completed his man-of-the-match display on 71 minutes when clearing off the line from Danny O’Connor.
