Davies appeal rejected

Bolton striker Kevin Davies will serve a three-match ban after the Football Association rejected his appeal for wrongful dismissal.

The 29-year-old was sent off in the Trotters’ last Premiership outing against Charlton when he was adjudged to have elbowed Amady Faye in the face in an aerial challenge.

Davies had earlier been caught by the swinging elbow of Addicks defender Hermann Hreidarsson, a challenge which left the Bolton man with a depressed fractured cheekbone.

The earliest he would be free from suspension is for the September 25 game against Portsmouth, but the injury is expected to rule Davies out until October.
