Thomas Gravesen is expected to make an announcement regarding his proposed move to Celtic this afternoon.

The 30-year-old Real Madrid midfielder held talks with the Scottish champions after being given a leave of absence from the Danish squad to resolve his future.

He returned to the national team camp last night without signing a contract with Celtic, as reports emerged that his medical had raised concerns about an old knee injury.

However, Celtic say talks remain ongoing.

That means the £2m (€3m) transfer could still happen before tomorrow’s transfer deadline.

Gravesen has promised to clarify his situation later today, with Newcastle, Bolton, Middlesbrough and former club Everton also reported to be interested in his signature.

His agent, John Sivebaek, told BBC Sport: “We will be issuing a statement in three or four hours. I have no more to say.”
