Keddy on target for Waterford
Waterford United 2 Drogheda United 3
James Keddy scored at both ends, his second a dramatic late winner, as Drogheda got their title hopes back on track in a roller coaster game at the RSC.
Goals from Shane Barrett, on 19 minutes, and returning skipper Declan O’Brien three mintues before the break appeared to have Drogheda in control.
But Keddy lobbed his own goalkeeper Dan Connor on 58 minutes to give Blues, in boss Gareth Cronin’s first match in charge, hope.
Despite having midfielder James Chambers sent off for a second booking on 65 minutes, Blues plugged away and levelled seven minutes later when Kenny Browne blasted home Alan Cawley’s corner.
But Keddy redeemed his earlier blunder when stretching to toe home Shane Robinson’s cross to win it for Drogheda on 87 minutes.
