Derry came from behind to go top of the table in a happy return to Turner’s Cross, having lost the league there on the final day of last season.

Roy O’Donovan scooped home the rebound after David Forde could only parry a free kick to give Cork the lead on the hour.

But Derry hit back 14 minutes form time when Kevin Deery and Sean Hargan worked the ball into the Cork area and home skipper Dan Murray put through his own net.
