Emerton sticks with Rovers

Blackburn midfielder Brett Emerton has ended weeks of speculation concerning his future by signing a new four-year contract at Ewood Park.

The Australian World Cup player had been a reported target of Middlesbrough’s new manager Gareth Southgate.

However the 27-year-old, whose previous contract was due to expire next summer, has now committed himself to Rovers until 2010.
