Stalemate at Flancare Park

Longford failed to build on their recent good form as a dogged College held them scoreless at Flancare Park.

Both sides wasted good openings in a competitive first half.

But it wasn’t until the 35th minute that either keeper had a save to make with Longford’s Mick Dempsey tipping over Pat McWalter’s shot after Ronan Finn and Conor Sammon set him up.

Town responded with Darren Quigley having to dive full length to push Danny O’Connor’s shot round a post in the stop of the night.

The second half was poor with UCD enjoying much of the ball, though it was Longford who had the best chance on 76 minutes.

UCD failed to clear Alan Kirby's ball into their area, but substitute John Martin couldn’t take advantage as his shot lacked power and was straight at Quigley.
