Waterford United appoint new manager
Waterford United have appointed Gareth Cronin as the new manager at the RSC.
Former Cork City, Shamrock Rovers and Kildare County defender Cronin was Dermot Keely’s assistant at Dublin City before the club was forced to withdraw from the League last week.
He replaces Mike Kerley who resigned last week and faces a tough task of lifting the Blues off the bottom of the table.
“This is a wonderful opportunity to manage a club that has such a distinguished past,” said Cronin.
“I am looking forward to the challenge, as this club has a proud tradition and having met the people involved, I share their desire for success and hopefully I can deliver for them and for the supporters who have shown themselves to be so loyal this season.
“This will be a tough assignment but I am ready for it. Waterford battled hard against Cork at the weekend and deserved their point so it shows that there is potential in the team and we still have a cup campaign.”
