Webber cleared to face Reds

Danny Webber has been given the all clear to face Liverpool in Sheffield United’s Premiership opener later this month.

The Blades striker sustained a knee injury in a 1-1 pre-season friendly draw against Sparta Rotterdam on Saturday, and there were fears it could be serious.

Manager Neil Warnock sent Webber back to Sheffield on Sunday for scans on the injury, and to the relief of the United boss they have revealed no problems.

Webber should now be fit to take on manager Rafael Benitez’s side at Bramall Lane on August 19.
