No offers for Gallas - Mourinho
Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho is willing to work with William Gallas again and revealed that no club has yet tabled a bid for the defender.
Mourinho accused the France international of showing a lack of respect after failing to report for pre-season training in Los Angeles.
The 28-year-old Gallas has one year left on his contract but, while Mourinho hinted he would be willing to let him go if the right offer came along, he has not ruled out a reconciliation.
The former Porto manager said: âHe should have come in the same day as Michael Ballack and Mikel John Obi and he didnât.
âHe will train in London with a personal trainer until we arrive back and on Monday he will join the group.â
He added: âWhat hard line? Weâve had no offers for him. We negotiated a player â (Andriy) Shevchenko â with Milan and they never wanted to involve William Gallas in the deal, never mentioned him. Weâve had no offers so William Gallas remains a Chelsea player.
âWhat he did was a lack of respect to the family. But in families, sometimes, people make mistakes and you have to be able to solve the problem the best you can.
âSo until we get an offer he remains a Chelsea player and from Monday he will work with us.
âHe is a Chelsea player because we have had no offers. You can tell me everyone â Barcelona, Real Madrid, Milan or Inter â wants him but the fact is we have no offers. That is the pure truth.
âWe have not even had a bad offer but if we have a good offer we can think about it.
âWe havenât had an offer to refuse so he is a Chelsea player.â
Hernan Crespoâs future at the club also appears uncertain but Mourinho insists there is still a strong bond among the Chelsea squad.
âThe family is fantastic,â he continued. âFor me the players out on that training pitch is the family.
âWhen other people join the family then that is another story. For me what is happening is the people out here. I donât really want to speak about people who are not here.
âCrespo is another situation we all have to solve together. He started the situation by saying publicly 20 times last season he would like to go back to Italy. I think he has to end the situation he started. And again weâve had offers â neither good or bad.
âSo again he remains a Chelsea player and we have him under contract and we are in control, as we are of all players who are under contract with us.â
Mourinho still hopes to bring Arsenal and England full-back Ashley Cole to the club and added: âIf people make mistakes in the past, they are not making them this season.
âThe approach was made in a more than fair way. Arsenal know we are interested.
âWe know that the player belongs to Arsenal. We know they have the power to decide. They know we made an offer, and if they accept we can negotiate with the player, we will try to bring the player to us, but if they donât accept we wonât approach the player â and it is over. So I think everything is clear. It is not like what appears to be happening with Gallas â no ghost clubs or ghost offers.
âEverything is very clear but if they donât accept it is in your power to do decide that.
âIâm happy with the progression of Wayne Bridge â heâs coming back to his true level. And Paulo [Ferreira] can play there if needs be.â
