Former Chelsea and Birmingham defender Mario Melchiot has joined French club Rennes on a one-year contract.

Former Chelsea and Birmingham defender Mario Melchiot has joined French club Rennes on a one-year contract.

The 29-year-old, who began his career with Ajax in his native Holland, left Birmingham when his contract expired at the end of last season.
