Robben stays, warn Chelsea

Chelsea chief executive Peter Kenyon insists Real Madrid have still not made a formal approach for Arjen Robben – and reiterated that the Dutch winger is staying at Stamford Bridge.

Real president Ramon Calderon promised to take Robben to the Bernabeu as part of his election campaign and recently repeated his determination to recruit the 22-year-old.

Calderon claimed to have spoken to Robben, infuriating Chelsea who have condemned what they see as an illegal approach.

Kenyon has asked FIFA to investigate the matter and today issued Real with another hands-off warning.

“There has been no formal approach and if there was it would be completely rebuffed,” he said.

“Arjen has said he’s staying at Chelsea and Chelsea’s position has been made very clear. There’s a process in place and we will follow that process.”

Chelsea boss Jose Mourinho is equally determined to keep Robben, especially as he has now resigned himself to losing Republic of Ireland winger Damien Duff.

“Arjen Robben is a player we want to keep, 100% for sure,” said Mourinho.
