Ronaldo should 'keep quiet': Mourinho
Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho has urged compatriot Cristiano Ronaldo to “keep quiet” and remain with Manchester United.
The Portuguese winger has been strongly linked with a move to Real Madrid, having made himself extremely unpopular with England fans by appearing to get involved in the incident which led to club-mate Wayne Rooney being sent off in the World Cup quarter-final.
Blues boss Mourinho, who shares the same agent as Ronaldo in Jorge Mendes, believes the 21-year-old should stay in Manchester and prove his worth.
Speaking at a ceremony where he was awarded the gold medal of his hometown Setubal, he said: “If he stays in England, I think he can turn things around. I think football players should play a lot and talk very little. He should keep quiet and do his job.”
Mourinho also again reiterated his desire to one day coach his national team.
“I said it before, I want it. When I do – and when Portugal does too – I hope we can arrange it,” Mourinho said.
