Brazil doctor denies Real Ronaldo rift
Brazil team doctor Jose Luiz Runco has denied reports of a rift with Real Madrid over his decision to allow striker Ronaldo to go under the knife.
The 29-year-old will have minor surgery in Rio de Janeiro today in a bid to cure a niggling left shin injury.
Runco took the decision to operate on Ronaldo despite comments from Madridâs new president Ramon Calderon that the striker only required rest.
âWe never had problems with Madrid,â Runco told âLance! No Arâ radio. âHowever, we have talked a lot of times with Real Madridâs medical department about it.
âReal Madrid knew about the surgery on Ronaldoâs left leg and they understood the problem of the player. As well as that, a doctor from Real will arrive in Rio de Janeiro and will participate in the surgery.
âHis recovery will be quick,â Runco added
Ronaldo is expected to be back in action next month for Madridâs final pre-season matches.
