Roberto Donadoni has been named as the new coach of the Italian national team.

Roberto Donadoni has been named as the new coach of the Italian national team.

The former Azzurri midfielder succeeds Marcello Lippi, whose final act in charge before resigning was to lead Italy to World Cup glory with a penalty shoot-out triumph over France in Berlin on Sunday night.

Donadoni has previously coached Livorno, Lecce and Genoa.
