Denis Behan hit a double, the second an absolute stunner, as Cork City warmed up nicely for their Champions League date with Apollon Limassol at Turner's Cross on Wednesday by going back to the top of the Premier Division table.

City did all their damage to Longford, who had taken seven points from their last three games, inside the opening 15 minutes.

Behan, starting in place of the injured John O’Flynn, scrambled home the opener in the tenth minute after Longford failed to deal with Neale Fenn’s cross.

But there was nothing sloppy about his second five minutes later.

Collecting the ball 25 yards out, the city striker let fly with a terrific left foot drive that gave Mick Dempsey in the Town goal little chance.
