Terry makes World Cup all-star squad

John Terry is the only England player to be chosen for the World Cup squad of the tournament.

The best 23 players from the finals have been selected in the Mastercard All-Star team.

Centre-back Terry makes it in for his solid performances at the heart of the England defence.

Rio Ferdinand has been overlooked, however, despite an equally impressive five games.

Italy, who play in the tomorrow’s final against France, have the largest representation with seven players in the squad.

Portugal keeper Ricardo, the hero of the shoot-out which ended England’s hopes has been picked but there is no place for Cristiano Ronaldo.

The Manchester United winger was also overlooked for the Young Player of the tournament because he lost marks for fair play.
