A terrific goal from Denis Behan put Cork City back top of the eircom League premier Division table, but they were made to work for their win by a dogged UCD at Turner’s Cross.

The victory was at a cost, however, as Cork’s topscorer John O’Flynn limped out early on with a groin problem and may be a doubt for their Champions League qualifier with Cypriot side Apollon later this month.

O’Flynn’s substitute Behan worked the oracle for City on the night, though, when scoring the only goal of the game eon 61 minutes. Neale Fenn and Roy O’Donovan combined to set him up and Behan finished with aplomb.

Derek Doyle might have levelled for College ten minutes from time but, having rounded City keeper Michael Devine, he contrived to shoot wide.
