Ivan Campo has signed a new two-year deal with Bolton on the day his old contract expired.

The 32-year-old Spaniard, who can play in midfield or in defence, is a well-liked figure at the Reebok Stadium and has played more than 100 games for Wanderers.

He first joined the club on loan in August 2002 from Real Madrid and joined permanently in summer 2003.

Campo has made 111 league appearances for the Barclays Premiership club, scoring eight goals.

Officials from the club flew out to Spain to secure Campo’s signature on a new deal.

Before joining Bolton he appeared 60 times for Real Madrid in the Spanish Primera Liga, having previously played for Real Mallorca, Valencia, Valladolid and Alaves.
