Hartson had expected to stay at Celtic

New West Brom striker John Hartson has revealed his surprise at being allowed to leave Celtic.

Hartson has signed a two-year contract at The Hawthorns after Albion paid £500,000 (€724,077) for the Welshman who had a year left on his contract at Parkhead.
