Derry put three past Vikings
Derry City 3 Dublin City 0
Derry moved up to second in the table as Dublin City had another player sent off at the Brandywell.
Depleted Vikings, who went into the match missing three banned players, ruined a terrific first half display by having Paul Shiels dismissed on 36 minutes.
Midfielder Shiels clashed off the ball with Derry striker Gary Beckett and was promptly shown a straight red card.
Derry gradually made their numerical advantage pay in the second half once Mark Farren fired them in front from Pat McCourt’s cross on 52 minutes.
Mark Rooney turned another McCourt cross into his own goal to double Derry’s lead 12 minutes later. The industrious Beckett got Derry’s third 20 minutes from time.
