Vidic out of World Cup with injury

Manchester United defender Nemanja Vidic will play no part in the World Cup after it was confirmed the Serbia and Montenegro international has suffered a knee ligament injury which will keep him out of action for “several weeks”.

Vidic was hurt in training yesterday and national team spokesman Aleksandar Boskovic confirmed today the centre-half will not be available for the remainder of the Serbo-Montenegrins’ matches in Germany.
