Mexico goalkeeper Oswaldo Sanchez has returned to Germany and declared himself ready to face Iran tomorrow.

Sanchez flew back to Mexico for the funeral of his father and the national team’s coaching staff had given him permission to stay in Guadalajara.

But Sanchez was determined to play in Germany, and flew into Nuremberg on Saturday with his family and friends.

“I am here because it was the dream of my father,” said Sanchez. “He was at the last two World Cups, although he would have preferred to have seen me.

“I am rested because I had a comfortable journey. I want to thank the Mexican Premier Division teams who paid a lot of money to rent a private plane for me.

“I also want to thank (goalkeeper coach) Jorge Campos because he was always next to me.”

Sanchez is expected to start against Iran.
