Trinidad and Tobago defied the odds to hold Sweden and give England a head start in Group B.

The World Cup newcomers snatched a point despite their lack of experience at this level and being down to 10 men.

Former eircom League favourite Avery John was sent off a minute into the second half but his team-mates kept Sweden out thanks in no small measure to West Ham goalkeeper Shaka Hislop, a late replacement for Kelvin Jack.
