Conservative MP Greg Hands today called on British prime minister Tony Blair to use his “long standing friendship” with Manchester United manager Alex Ferguson to “lobby for (Wayne) Rooney’s inclusion”.

Conservative MP Greg Hands today called on British prime minister Tony Blair to use his “long standing friendship” with Manchester United manager Alex Ferguson to “lobby for (Wayne) Rooney’s inclusion”.

Hands even tabled a Commons motion condemning Ferguson for his “continuing efforts to prevent” Rooney from playing for the England team, attacking what he called the “shenanigans” over when the young striker will play.
