Saints take the points at Waterford

Captain Chris Deans scored an own goal and was sent off to top and tail another bad night for Waterford.

Deans tried to chest Anto Murphy’s long throw back to his keeper Jimmy Fyfe, but the ball squirmed into the net for a farcical own goal to gift Saints a 16th minute lead.

Paul Keegan headed home Alan Reilly’s 70th minute cross to make it 2-0 before Michael Foley slotted home a penalty four minutes later.

Darragh Maguire headed a James Chambers free kick into his own goal for Blues consolation on 77 minutes before Deans saw red for a second booking for a bad tackle on Anto Flood four minutes from time.
