Chelsea to seal Mikel deal - reports

John Obi Mikel is expected to sign for Chelsea in the next 48 hours, according to reports this morning.

The Nigerian midfielder, 19, was understood to be in London last night and it is reported that Chelsea have agreed a compensation package with Manchester United, who believed they had signed Mikel in April last year.

Mikel has since stated he would prefer to move to Chelsea, although United submitted a formal complaint to FIFA over the affair, asking them to investigate Chelsea’s role in the transfer and that of agents John Shittu and Rune Hauge.
