Dowie lets duo go

New Charlton manager Iain Dowie has wasted little time in beginning to shape his side for next season with the announcement that both striker Jay Bothroyd and defender Chris Perry are leaving the club, while centre-half Jonathan Fortune has agreed a new deal.

The 41-year-old former Crystal Palace manager was formally unveiled at The Valley yesterday, becoming only the south-London club’s second manager in 15 seasons after replacing long-serving coach Alan Curbishley, who left at the end of the last campaign.
