Late strike puts Bray through
Kildare County 0 Bray Wanderers 1
Paul Caffrey scored a late winner to put twice winners of the trophy Bray into the third round of the FAI Carslberg Cup.
First Division County, who twice led in the first game before conceding a 94th minute equaliser, again took the game to Bray, creating the better chances in the first half.
The woodwork then came to Bray’s rescue on 52 minutes when County defender Philip Byrne’s header from Alan Mulcahy’s free kick crashed back off the bar.
Bray were better throughout the second half, though, and punished a mistake by Barry Clancy to snatch the only goal of the game on 76 minutes.
Caffrey pounced on the loose ball to race through and volley past Brendan Kennedy.
