The scan which will make-or-break Wayne Rooney’s World Cup has been brought forward to June 7.

The 20-year-old was due to fly out to Germany with the England squad next Monday before returning to Manchester 10 days later to have the CT scan which would determine whether or not he will be able to take any part in the competition.

However, following a meeting between Sir Alex Ferguson, Sven-Goran Eriksson and the medical teams of both England and Manchester United at the Premiership’s Carrington training complex this morning it has been decided to bring the scan forward by seven days.
