Monaghan force replay against Vikings

Bottom of the First Division Monaghan ended six straight defeats as they utterly frustrated Premier Division Dublin City to earn a replay at Century Homes Park on Tuesday night.

Stephen Finnegan should have given Monaghan the lead on 28 minute when played through one-on-one with Gary Rogers by Robbie Smith, but the youngster blazed wide.

Monaghan keeper Robbie Horgan had to make the save of the first half a minute before the interval when tipping over a David Freeman free kick.

But Monaghan continued to cause Vikings problems and Robbie Hedderman had to clear off the line from Smith on 66 minutes following a defensive mix-up.
