Thompson set to see out contract

Celtic midfielder Alan Thompson is set to remain at the club for the final year of his contract.

The former Bolton and Aston Villa man has been displaced from the Hoops first team this season after playing an integral part under former boss Martin O’Neill.

The 32-year-old had been linked with a return to England but his agent, Tony McGill, insists Thompson is set to stay in Glasgow next season before his deal ends.

He told the Evening Times: “We have not been told anything different by Celtic.

“As things stand, Alan will be staying at the club for the remainder of his contract.”
