Manchester City boss Stuart Pearce has agreed a deal to make Shrewsbury’s outstanding young goalkeeper Joe Hart his first signing of the summer.

The 19-year-old will join for an initial fee of £600,000, which depending on his success at the City of Manchester Stadium could rise to £1.5m.

Hart is already an England Under-19 international and defied his age – he only turned 19 last month – to be named in the Professional Footballers’ Association League Two team of the year.

Hart, who made 54 appearances in the Football League for Shrewsbury, has agreed terms on a four-year deal and will take a medical next week.
